Q. How long does it take to receive information from schools offering correspondence courses??
A. It varies. I received some information within days, some took a week or better. There is excellent information on the web. Visit http://www.mtdesk.com There is an area there with information and links to different courses. There's also great information on how to choose a course. I've learned a great deal by just reading here, and also lurking in the MT chats. I'm about 1/3 of the way through my course and I really enjoy it. The course is excellent and the materials provided are top of the line. How long does it take to receive information from schools offering correspondence courses?? I am expecting material from ROS, ICS and I forgot the name of the other one. I am so anxious to get started. My husband already told his oncologist that he should be ready for me next year. Tom also found out that most of the doctors here in Miami use the micro cassette which means I'll be investing in two machines, but not right away. I was going to take the course at a local vocational school but after reading and asking questions, correspondence school sounded better for me. I hope I can get the information so I can decide which school to go with. In the meantime, reading these posts from all of you is a start. I'm learning that I need to learn a lot. It's a bit scary. I am also 41 and excited to be starting a new career. I don't know if you've heard of Northeast Transcripts correspondence course, but it's the one I'm just finishing up. It has been a great preparation and I just started a job in the radiology dept of a local hospital. They have been pleased with how well prepared I am and I can actually understand the doctors, though I do spend time looking up words. It took me 8 months of hard work with the course, although actually I'm still finishing up. The one problem with NET is that they are hard to talk to in person and sometimes it took awhile for the materials to be sent. But it is very thorough and includes 55 90 minute tapes of dictation.
