Ged Online Accredited

Q. I have a desire to further my education, and online seems to be the most convenient for me at the moment, not even sure what area of study as yet (that will prob' be decided for me be whats available) my problem is this, i didn't finish my high school education now as far as I'm aware I can take the ged to make up for this, but I'm not sure if I can apply to colleges without some form of credit. Is that the case or have I made a mistake ? if this is the case can I take courses on line for this credit?? I am living in europe (not sure if this makes a difference) thanks for your time . I apreciate any help I can get on this as no matter how many sites I have been to on the subject I cn't find the information

A. If you are older than the advanced age of 18, you will find many courses and degree programs available that do not require either the GED or a high school diploma or school leaving certificate or O and A levels or any of those things. It may take some shopping around (which you should do anyway), since the several hundred properly accredited schools with such programs differ considerably in costs, subjects available, academic model (courses, credit by exam, by life experience portfolio, etc.). The usual mantra here, reasonably, is to look first at Regents, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak, which satisfy many people's needs. But in the event the 'shopping' goes further, there are many resources available, including, even, my book on the subject, described at the below-named site. Is this hard sell or what? I suggest you look at you high school classes completed and compare that to you school systems requirements. You can start online education by takig accredited high school courses to "shore up" your basic training and then take college level courses. These courses are in the form of "challenge" for credit by exam, text based, and self paced online. College will go a lot better if you take effort to prepare
