Ged Preparation

Q. I am studying for my GED and I am having difficulty connecting the different methods for solving equations, they all get scrambled in my head! Come test time, I'm afraid everything will mesh into one gigantic blob! For instance, I can grasp how to solve a multiplication fraction but then I get overwhelmed because certain rules apply only to certain things! I'm sorry if this seems too juvenile for this group but I am determined to do this..I hope anyone can help me?

A. One general suggestion is for the method of instruction to use. If you are weak enough in math to be so confused about what method to use to solve a problem, you should academically study mathematics and not rely on mere GED preparation as a replacement for the missing concepts and skills (or inadequate concepts and skills). Just because you may have studied some math at some time does not mean that you retained everything. Boldly go through a full review of basic math including fractions, decimals, word problems, geometry, proportions, percents.
