Ged Schedule
Q. Do any of you know of a good G.E.D. home study program for someone who does not have access to a computer? I think a program which incorporates teaching on a videotape may be helpful. I have a client who is incarcerated under house arrest. She is awaiting an organ transplant, so she could not attend classes even if the Department of Correction or a court order permitted her to do so. She is indigent and she does not have access to a computer. I have recently discovered that she is a high-school dropout. She is bright and articulate and I am encouraging her to get her G.E.D. so that she can enroll in a college when she is able. She does not know any math beyond basic arithmetic and has problems with reading comprehension. I cannot tutor her because she lives too far away from me, and I cannot afford to hire someone to tutor her.
A. Your local PBS TV Station runs periodic GED courses. Have your friend call and find when they will begin the series. I know people here in Tallahassee can call and they will work it into the schedule for them.
