Q. I'm looking for recommendations for project management training courses. I have half a dozen brochures in front of me and can't tell which might be of the most value. I'm particularly interested in training for IT professionals. Does anybody have experience with such courses, or if not, with some of these vendors: Project Management Institute TechLink Training International Institute for Learning National Seminars Group SkillPath Seminars CompuMaster
A. -Recommend that you study which model would it be more suitable for your organisation first before you enrol. Perhaps you can ask for more course information from the organisations which you have mentioned before you decide. Our company has joined a few courses with the PMI (Project Management Institute) and also with the IPS (integrated project systems). You can go to IPS website : www.ipspm.com and check out the courses you wish to enrol. My recommendation is the IPS Planning and Managing Projects course. See if it will fit your needs. It is mainly concentrated on IT projects. -The Gartner Institute is now offering IT PM certification based on the case study method. They certainly have a good reputation among IT managers.
