Does anyone know of a 2 or 3 day class teaching Project Portfolio Management in UK?
Q. Does anyone know of a 2 or 3 day class teaching Project Portfolio Management in UK? I found one taught through PMI. However, the first session is next week, which I cannot attend and the second one is in November, by which time I need to be more than competent. Any help is appreciated.
A. - also as part of PMI's Seminars 2000 series, I am offering a four-day seminar in the Total Project Control approach. As the name suggests, TPC is about more than just portfolio management -- but it incorporates a comprehensive approach to linked multiproject reporting and decision-making, and rests on a major underlying thesis that project and portfolio decisions are inextricably linked. Although you mentioned 3-4 days, the fourth day of the seminar details extensively with earned value analysis, again an important element of portfolio management. - I have looked at the description of your session. I am very interested in this topic. I also see where it would be very useful, while managing a portfolio of projects, to have these tools in my toolkit. However, the portfolio management class also describes instruction in the implementation and organizational aspects of portfolio management. I don't dispute the value of metrics in managing a portfolio, but don't see this as the totality of what needs to be done. What are your thoughts? - I work for a leading UK based Project Management training company in the UK - FI Academy. They have a division called Duhig Berry who provide a full range of Project related services including training.
