Oregon GedQ. My main concern is how to provide support for my daughter so that it does not go directly to an individual (her mom) who even listed her occupation in her declaration as "mentally ill." My goal would be to set up an account that my daughter could draw funds from under the guidance of her step-mother and I so that the money could be spent on actual living expenses. This would do the double duty of not only making sure that any support money put into the account would be reasonably spent, but it would also help my daughter to learn to manage ' her spending and become more independent as she approaches adulthood. ' ' I know that this is an unconventional approach, but so is the ' situation. Does anybody have any thoughts or experience regarding these ' circumstances and proposal? A. Oregon has some laws that make parents responsible for their children's behavior, etc... I know some of the parents which have been fined because their child is uncontrollable has been able to get their child emancipated just to make the child responsible for their own behavior and choices. You may want to speak to an attorney concerning this in Oregon. Also, if this is something your daughter would want, I highly suggest that you speak to her about getting a job. If she can show the courts that she considers herself an adult, has a job (even if at Mc Donald's), and has a GED (she has that), then the rest is easy. Emancipation for her case would also help her get into a community college without parents' and school district's permission. Another thought to think about. Some of the other standard guidelines for emancipation... at least 6 months away from their parents' home(s). This would show independance. A child who is constantly involved in crime and gets into trouble could be emancipated, just so the courts can deal with the child as an adult. Becoming a parent for a girl.
