Problem about Training sales-staff ?

Q. Problem about Training sales-staff ? Why was I - and not a sales assistant - the one explaining the benefits of Macs in general and iMacs in particular to a gentleman looking at the iMac,? Why did I have to lean over to tell the one assistant that was there (who was very nearly putting off someone buying a Mac) about scanner drivers and SCSI?

A. -Can i suggest that you forwrd this to Scott law so as to give an illustration of how serious the present siutaion is? Sadly this sort of thing is the *norm* not the exception to the rule. Appalling really, but just typical of how Apple as messing up in just about every area ... -I think you take a very relaxed approach to selling iMacs. Nobody seems to be very proactive in the selling department, but it isn't limited to the Mac platform. You have to approach the salesman yourself. They are very knowledgeable though, and your chain has been so supportive of the Mac over recent years that it would be churlish to criticise them unduly. Apparently they're not to keen on Apple intervention when it comes to promoting the Mac range, preferring to do things their way. -this is an update for Scott, so I hope he's still here - they had *four* Macs on display today, *and* I managed to find several items of Mac software in the general display! They also had at least ten copies of OS 8.5 on display, with as much prominence as Windows 98 - it had made no appearance at all up to yesterday, so things are looking up in my neck of the woods. Haven't been over to PC World to see if anything's arrived there; nothing in Dixons... -I think my major point should have been clarified - I think the staff need more training by the manufacturer. Which is obvious, which is why the manufacturer should provide more training . . . what info do the other sales staff get from Apple? I know it's been said before, but there's few things more depressing than a G3 sat there with nothing going on, and no means of making it do anything!! The iMac in Oxford street actually was set up so that the Public could do *nothing*, not even run the "Customer Demo". MoviePlayer was running, though, and I managed to run a demo movie. I guess there's nothing one can do if a customer comes along and forces the demo to quit -If we could only clone people involved in sales with this kind of attitude shopping would be a much nicer experience. An open mind and interest in the subject must make a powerful combination in sales.
